Après avoir rendu effectives certaines mesures annoncées, il ya quelques mois, pour contribuer au bien-être être des Gabonais et Gabonaises, à l'instar du paiement des bourses et des pensions, le recrutement à la Fonction publique, le chef de l'État Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema s'attaque désormais à la vie chère.
En effet, un spot publicitaire du ministère de l'Economie annonce que le président de la République vient de prendre 9 mesures pour alléger le panier de la ménagère. Il s'agit de la suspension des paiements de certaines taxes, la baisse de certains produits alimentaires, comme la viande de boeuf, de porc, le poisson et la volaille, la baisse du prix de l'huile de palme raffinée, la baisse des matériaux de construction, le maintient des compteurs sociaux d'eau et d'électricité pour les Gabonais en difficulté sociale, la réduction de 10% sur les billets d'avion des vols domestiques, la baisse des prix des billets de train.
Toutes ces mesures rentrent en vigueur dès ce lundi 18 mars 2024. Il est également précisé que chaque trimestre, l'Etat va subventionner un peu plus de 6 milliards de francs pour la lutte contre la hausse des prix. À partir de ce mardi, des équipes de la brigade mixte lanceront des opérations de sensibilisation auprès des opérateurs économiques en vue de l'application stricte de ces mesures.
